Interesting Old Photos of the Speedway

11/10/2009

I found a Web site with some interesting stuff, especially photos of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in days gone by. The site is managed by Dan Vielhaber, a gentleman I have never had the pleasure to meet. Some of the stuff on his site I have never seen before, such his photos of the 1935 Indianapolis 500. Others items I have encountered earlier, but still appreciate as unusual, such as the makeshift scaffold collapse of 1960.

Dan also has a nice collection of photos of all the Indy 500 pace cars dating back to 1911. I especially enjoy the three post card images he has of old aerial views of the track.  He has also presents some interesting images he captured with his camera: panaramic photos of the track.
