Janet Guthrie Rides "Black Beast"

Vanderbilt Cup historian and author Howard Kroplick showcases his Alco "Black Beast" racer regularly at concours d'elegance events. Howard owns the best Web site in the world on the topic of the Vanderbilt Cup races that took place on Long Island, New York from 1904 through 1910. Check out the ride he recently gave Indy 500 veteran driver Janet Guthrie, the first woman ever to qualify for the greatest race in the world, the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. The Black Beast also competed in the Indianapolis 500 albeit many years before Guthrie. Janet first ran in 1977, the Alco in the inaugural Indy 500 in 1911.
