Lewis Strang

Hemmings published this interesting article about Lewis Strang, who started on the pole for the first Indy 500. The article has problems, such as the view that Strang won the pole for the 1911 Indy 500. This is incorrect. Strang was assigned the pole by virtue of being the first car entered in the big race. If you have an interest in Strang, check out the 2011 Indy 500 for the article I wrote on this talented early days driver. Also, I wrote the profile on Strang at vanderbiltcupraces.com.
