Marmon Wasp Rides Again

12/22/2009

This clip of the Marmon Wasp, the first car to win the Indianapolis 500, was taken in May 2009 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A mainstay of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum, the car is one of the most important artifacts of early automobile racing. While many cars in vintage shows that claim to be of this era lack compelling documentation, this one is the real deal. The car Ray Harroun drove to victory in the 1911 Indianapolis 500. In this clip the Wasp negotiates a portion of the road course at the great Speedway.
