Indian Moto Ad - 8/12/1909

This advertisement appeared in the August 12, 1909, Indianapolis Star. The occasion was coverage of events related to the first motorcycle race meet at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway held two days later on August 14. A similar ad ran the day after the race meet and boosted the brand's success in those contests.
 
There can be little doubt that Indian Motorcycle was the premier brand of bike. The ad notes the company's success in the recent Cleveland-to-Indianapolis endurance run that was part of the week of motorcycle activities.
