John Duff

This is John Duff, who won the 1924 24 Hours of Le Mans and finished ninth in the 1926 Indianapolis 500. He was a part of the famed Bentley Boys when he drove at Le Mans. He is also well known for setting speed records at Brooklands. In 1926, Duff spent a year racing in America which ended in a career-ending accident at the Altoona board track.

The reference to "Major" comes because he served in the British military during World War 1. Duff is typically referred to as a Canadian as that was the nationality of his parents, but he was born in China. He spent much of his life in England, and some in Europe and the United States. Duff is a member of the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame.
