These images pertain to racing. Many times the sport was criticized in editorial cartoons as excessively dangerous or disruptive to the tranquility of a community. Even more frequently automotive manufacturers proclaimed their success in advertising to appeal to customers with evidence of their superior quality products.

1909 Motorcycle Races!

From this August 11, 1909 Indianapolis Star editorial cartoon not everyone in the city was convinced that the common citizen would benefit from the economic bonanza of having motorcycle manufacturers, race teams and their riders visit the city.
