Ray Harroun

Protest of the First Indy 500

07/08/2009

A lot of people like to talk about the confusion over the finishing positions of the first Indianapolis 500. I think this is overblown as Harroun had a big advantage in that he did have much trouble with tire wear while second-place Ralph Mulford and most of the rest of the field did. Frequent pit stops and running around the brick track on a rim don't do much for your competitive edge.
