Bruce-Brown, 1912 French GP

David Bruce-Brown and his riding mechanic Tony Scudalari in what I believe is the start of the second day of the 1912 French Grand Prix in their 14.3 liter S-74 Fiat. Drivers in road races during this era were started one at a time. The reason I think this is the second day is that there was rain on the first and you see the dry conditions in this photo. This could also be a photo of a pit stop. Bruce-Brown was disqualified during the second day for re-fueling away from the pits. There were allegations that David's car had been tampered with during the overnight impound.
