Louie Meyer Wins 1928 Altoona 200

In this image from the Paul Sheedy Collection, we see Louis "Louie" Meyer in his Stutz Special in August 1928. Like with other auto manufacturers, the car was badged, "Stutz," despite being 100 percent Miller. The photo commemorates Meyer's second victory of the season at the Altoona Board Track. The other came at the Indianapolis 500 in May. Historians and aficionados of the "500" will note that the white Stutz livery is different from the that gold & black #14 Miller Meyer drove to win that race earlier in the year. Meyer, a Hall-of-Fame driver universally regarded as one of the greatest of all time, scored other "500" victories in 1933 and 1936.

Note that Meyer autographed the photo with a greeting to Sheedy.
