National Racer from First Indy 500

This is more of the series of original art created by David Story making its online premiere on First Super Speedway. This image is of a 1910 National Motor Vehicle Company racer that took part in the Sports Car Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) Brickyard Invitational race meet June 11-14, 2015 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

This was not the car's first trip to the Brickyard. That came in 1911 as an entry in the first Indianapolis 500 with star driver Charlie Merz. Merz drove the machine to a seventh place finish. Check out this Racer.com article about the car, its owners and its history.

This image is part of Story's Brickyard Invitational Sketchbook and given the car's accomplishments this image is highly relevant to David's sketches of Indianapolis 500 race cars.

Check out some of the additional Brickyard Invitational coverage First Super Speedway's Mark Dill pulled together for Racer.com in June 2015.
