Premier On A Teeter - IMS 1910

This image first appeared in the April 1, 1910 Indianapolis Star. It shows a competitor in one of the "skill" events that were staged at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the week prior during the March 1910 Indianapolis Automobile Show. It illustrates one of the many strange tests of driver and machine that was staged for trophy awards. This depicts the "teeter" contest where competitors drove their vehicles onto a teeter-totter and sought balance. An Austin entry won the contest, but this is an image of one of the vehicles for the event from Premier Motor Car Manufacturing Company.

The cutline on the original photo read: "W. McWhite in Premier: The hardest test during the auto show performances yesterday afternoon at the Speedway was the teeter on which the motorists tried to balance their car."
