William "Billy" Bourque - Cobe Trophy

This image from the June 20, 1909 Indianapolis Star is of driver William "Billy" Bourque in the Knox racer he used to capture second place in the previous day's running of the Cobe Trophy race on a public roads course in northwest Indiana between the cities of Crown Point and Lowell. Just two months later Bourque became the first driver to lose his life at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, again as a Knox driver.
