Fan Guide for First Indy 500

07/05/2009

I just uploaded a nice package of articles from the May 27, 1911 Indianapolis News that was developed to help Indianapolis Motor Speedway fans better follow the first Indianapolis 500. Speed record and entry list charts; a description of the first rolling start and the role of the pace car; information about the facilities; the placement of color-coded "number disks" on the cars and a description of Harry Cobe's near brush with the first turn wall during a practice spin are all included. Great color.
