I've posted a number of articles in recent days and I thought it would be a good idea to call them to your attention. Here goes:

  • Here's an article that talks about pickpockets at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Union Station and downtown Indianapolis during the days of the first Indianapolis 500. There are actually two articles in this content, the smaller one discusses the flight of the giant gas balloon Dusseldorfer that gave a few select me a brief ariel view of the race.
  • This is a brief item on Herb Lytle, the most experienced driver in the first Indianapolis 500.
  • Take in this great shot of Speed King Bob Burman being crowned on May 30, 1911.
  • Check out these images supported by a short cutline that show some of the main players in key accidents in the first Indianapolis 500.
  • Here's a brief bio on Art Greiner, a relatively obscure driver who wrecked his Amplex racer on the 12th lap of the first Indianapolis 500.
  • Another example of what I call "slice of life," enjoy the color of Indianapolis mass transit circa 1911.
