Image of The Week

According to Tony De Seta, this shot is from a track in Texas in 1905. The man beside Barney (who is at the wheel) is allegedly Howard Hughes' father. I can only assume the larger man behind them was his chauffeur. Any additional info from anyone is most welcome - like the make of automobile.

Hello Mark, Tony De Seta
Hello Mark, Tony De Seta here again. I can`t begin to tell you how thrilled I am to see such high quality images of Barney Oldfield! Here is some info on this photo, although I can`t remember where I found it now(Maybe NY Times) Anyway is said this photo is from 1905 and the passenger is the father of Howard Hughes! Father owned the Hughes Tool co-manufacturer of Oil well drilling equip. Photo was taken in Texas,IIRC. If I find the source of this info,I`ll be sure to let you know. Keep up the good work on this wonderful site! Tony D.
Thanks, Tony!
That's great information, Tony! Even Wayne Petersen, the great-great nephew of Barney's wife Bess, who holds most of "the Master Driver's" memorabilia didn't have the dope on this shot. Much appreciated, and yes, I would appreciate the source.
