Bob Burman Brickyard Practice - 1910

This image orginally appeared in the May 24, 1910 Indianapolis Star as part of the build-up to the May 1910 race meet at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  The newspaper was covering the first day of practice for the May 1910 "national championships," a newly-announced distinction by the American Automobile Association (AAA) for select race meets. The driver pictured here was Bob Burman from the Buick racing team.
 
The cutline to the photo as it originally appeared read thusly:
 
"Robert ('Wild Bob') Burman, one of the Buick racing team stars, hits the high spots when he drives and says he don't care how fast they go just so they hang together."
