Image of The Week

This image is of Barney Oldfield in his Stutz racer leading Bill Bramlette in the number 19 Cadillac during the 1914 Cactus Derby Los Angeles to Phoenix off road race. Oldfield went on to win the 696 mile torturous test through undeveloped mountainous and desert terrain. Bramlette had one of the most interesting experiences after he broke a steering rod and his mechanic use a rail from a wooden fence as a lever to steer the wheels as they limped along.
