Harry E. Honeywell - St. Louis III

The June 5, 1909 national championship balloon race hosted by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway had a field packed with talented competitors. This image is of Harry E. Honeywell assistant to Pilot Albert Bond Lambert in the St. Louis III balloon. Not much is known about Honeywell, but it was reported that he constructed winning balloon, the University City, and sold it to its pilot, John Berry. This image appeared in the June 4, 1909 Indianapolis News with photos of other pilots and their assistants. Below are links to those photos as well as others of the competitors that were published in the Indianapolis Star the same day.
