This is another item I pulled from Barney Oldfield's personal scrapbook on the 1914 Los Angeles to Phoenix Cactus Derby. As with most of the content from the scrapbook this material is pretty messy, but hang with it. The name of the publication has been snipped from the original clipping. The article discusses the finish of the race, highlighting the huge lead Oldfield carried out of the last stop before the finish at Prescott, Arizona. The competitors spent the second night of the three day race in Prescott and left from there in the morning. One word of caution is the reporting that Cliff Durant finished third in the Chevrolet. This must have been one of the first reports on the results of the race as Durant was eventually credited with finishing fourth, behind Oldfield, Louis Nikrent and T.J. Beaudet. Oldfield drove his Indianapolis 500 Stutz while Nikrent and Beaudet were teammates in Paige cars.
