Haley's Comet!

I came across this peculiar (and poor quality, sorry) article from the May 11, 1910 Indianapolis Sun concerning a theater company whose performers requested the day off on May 18 to attend the auto races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Their reasoning was that Haley's Comet was passing by the Earth and if the creator of the universe saw fit to stage such a pyrotechnical display than out of respect the executives of Arvine & Benton producing the play, "A House of A Thousand Candles," should respectfully cancel the matinee performance of the day and release the company's employees to attend the exciting races at the Brickyard.
