Fisher on Indiana Roads

This is a pair of brief articles that appeared in the September 30, 1906 issue of the Indianapolis Star. The subject is road conditions in Indiana. Carl Fisher, who was in Long Island, New York for the 1906 Vanderbilt Cup at the time was interviewed for one of the articles. Interesting to note is that the Charles Newby cited as also visiting the Vanderbilt Cup from Indianapolis is not - I believe - Art Newby who became in 1909 one of the founders of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Charles Newby was an Indianapolis-based auto dealer and garage in this era and I do not know if there was a familial relationship between the two - but I doubt it.

The article provides a little more insight into the terrible road conditions in the country during this era.
