Harroun Predicts His Own Victory

This package includes two interesting articles leading up to the first Indianapolis 500 on May 30, 1911. The longer of the two discusses the various teams and their preparations. It is supported by some decent images of drivers - some that are tough to find anywhere else.

The most intriguing article is one written by Ray Harroun where he describes his Marmon Wasp and predicts that he will win the race. Note that in the article Harroun stresses the fact that the Marmon Wasp was a year old and raced the previous season. The article was published May 28, 1911 in the Indianapolis Star - two days before Harroun's victory at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
