Herb Lytle

This clip was published in the Indianapolis Star on May 31, 1911. It is an image of driver Herb Lytle and his riding mechanic, W.M. Clifton, with a cutline that provides their perspective of the spectacular home stretch accident triggered by Joe Jagersberger and involving Harry Knight, Lytle and Fiat driver Caleb Bragg during the first Indianapolis 500. Lytle drove an Apperson racer. The Apperson automobile company was based in Kokomo, Indiana.
