Final Day Schedule

This article appeared in the August 21, 1909 Indianapolis Star and provided an overview of the planned schedule of events for the final day of the first automobile races at the new Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Not unusual for the times the event schedule differed at least slightly from the final product. Four of the five promised contests were conducted, or at least started as the final 300 mile Wheeler Schebler Trophy race would be halted after what remains one of the worst accidents in auto racing history. The one planned race that never materialized was a five mile "consolation" for a cash prize of $50 with a silver medal for second place.

The five scheduled events are briefly described and supported by curiously incomplete entry lists of manufacturers but many times without a driver mentioned.
